Reporting into the Director of Business Insights, the candidate will be responsible for working to support the delivery of data driven assessments/recommendations at the broad business level together with specific requirements as defined with the global functional leads.  These will be typically on medium to long term projects, ultimately providing regular analysis to teams combined with higher frequency access to key metrics through dashboards/automated reports. Our goal is to build metrics which not only scale but underpin the objectives and success of these teams in the business. Collaboration across engineering/product, programme management and finance will be core to this role.

In this role you will be supporting the Director in the management/delivery of analysis, evaluation, and the creation of reporting inc. dashboard development. They will work to define prioritisation of projects across the business, where you will be expected to evaluate the necessary scope and build out project plans and ultimate delivery. This will include evaluating any additional requirements for delivery where data may not be readily available. For example, we are already exploring gaps in process and/or data collection that would prevent the delivery of measurement and insight in various areas of the business.

The role is at its core technical, so a strong demonstrable experience in using SQL/advanced Excel is mandatory, whilst requiring strong communication, ability to present findings effectively and project management across multiple deliverables. To be successful you will need to be more than an analyst, you will need to be able to have an understanding of the business and it’s drivers – what is the impact of the decisions that are made based on your analysis will be a common question. Ambiguity is undesirable in this role, critical and precision of thinking is key

What you’ll be doing:

  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of core management reporting – tracking key business performance metrics for the GSMT/EMT team
  • Support the design, development, and maintenance of core dashboards for specific functions – enabling them access to measure and track key metrics that drive their performance
  • Scope high impact business problems which data can help to resolve, collecting requirements and providing analysis in collaboration with stakeholders with recommended actions to take.
  • Working with the Director, conduct deep analysis into core business problems, researching and formulating actionable recommendations that can be presented to GSMT/EMT
  • Conduct quarterly requirement gathering with function leads to refine regular deliverable analysis and insight, that will drive more effective metric definition and reporting which enables them to track against agreed goals
  • Partner to development of optimised/automated solutions to enable faster/regular reporting and visualisations
  • Support the move from an observational analytics approach, to incorporate techniques to move to faster analysis including identification of patterns and trends
  • Work closely with the Business Operations team to identify gaps in process and/or data collection to continuously improve our ability to collect, analyse and provide insights across all areas of the business
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timey delivery/stakeholder management

What you need to be successful:

  • A good degree (2:1 or higher) in Maths, Statistics, Computer Science or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills: the candidate needs to be able to present insights and reports to internal stakeholders
  • Proven commercial experience with statistical analysis
  • Confident presentation of data driven analysis, and being able to influence decisions as an outcome
  • Demonstrable use of intermediate SQL or programming experience
  • Knowledge of BI tools such as Tableau, QlikView, etc.
  • Experience in advanced report building to improve team efficiencies and insight
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel
  • Good teamwork skills

Non-essential but preferred skills:

  • Demonstrable experience to high level programming languages such as Python, Matlab or R for data modelling.
  • Exposure/Working knowledge of basic project management principles
