Director of Activation


The Director of Activation will be responsible for leading a team of people across activation functions all based in our NYC office. The leader needs a strong operational background, people management skills as well as a deeply analytical approach to business statistics. You will work closely with and across teams that span Sales, Client Strategy, Product, Finance, Media buying, and Senior Management in identifying and prioritizing operational needs, solutions and strategies.

You are a confident and experienced leader who is used to running complex activation teams within an AdTech environment, either the buy or sell side. We are looking for an individual that is comfortable in both delivering strategies as well as playing as a coach to the team, ensuring their development and delivery of high performance. You want to use this experience to inspire and lead a fast-evolving operational team that is underpinning rapid growth in the US market. The teams cover both our managed service and programmatic (PSI) products which is increasingly empowering buyers to self-service whilst still benefiting from Captify’s Search Intelligence to drive performance. 

You will be heavily process orientated, yet able to challenge both yourself and the team to be creative thinkers to deliver better and more effective solutions through structured tests and learn. Delivering new practices into the design for general release, ensuring the entire team benefits from ongoing innovation and learning. You know how to work cross-functionally to create alignment and deliver results - both regionally and globally. You're a thought leader, but you don't just know how to solve the problem, you prove it by going and building the solution. You want to create value and impact the direction of the entire team and company and possibly the industry. 

The ideal candidate is agile enough to thrive in an environment that blends a responsibility for not only envisioning creative solutions but leverages a data-driven approach to validate these ideas. Your ability to react quickly to requests, priorities accordingly as well as having a consistent pipeline of new initiatives to further the advancement of the team and business units is critical. 



What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead an experienced, high-performing activation team across managed service and PSI business lines. Identified and recognized as programmatic experts.
  • Functional Leadership and process implementation – determining optimal process and practices across the functions for performance and efficiency; 
  • Accountable for best practice delivery from SLA’s, campaign set up, optimization, reporting, and budget management/reconciliation
  • Operationally delivering high levels of efficiency to their respective stakeholders.
  • Ongoing revenue forecasting and actualization of delivery against financial KPIs to the Senior Management Team
  • You will be the escalation path for these teams, reporting directly to the President whilst being accountable to your peers in the senior management team
  • Work in a consultative approach to support internal teams across the division, including Sales, Client Strategy, Product, Media buying, and Senior Management
  • Evaluation and analysis of profitability/performance/revenue across client base with Sales and Client Strategy, providing insights and recommendations to deliver. 
  • Mentorship and training across the emerging leaders in each team, ensuring that there is a clear and defined supporting structure underneath you
  • Driving a culture of accountability across the teams – setting appropriate KPI’s to deliver success.
  • Developing ongoing engagement with client activation teams directly as well as key technology partners. 
  • Recruitment and training of an evolving team



What you need to be successful:

  • Proven track record of successfully cross-functional teams within an AdTech environment
  • Demonstrative high level of competency and domain knowledge across programmatic trading - DSP and SSP side an advantage
  • Analytical and results-oriented leader with exceptional execution skills
  • Be able to demonstrate experience of improving efficiency and eliminating waste via lean initiatives
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, proven ability to influence others internally and externally
  • Highly organized, including strong time-management
  • Highly analytical and numerate
  • Rigorous attention to detail
  • A thorough approach to solving problems
