Data Scientist - Product

Captify is looking for a Data Scientist who will be responsible for product and data insight, helping define our data strategy and explaining complex interactions to our senior leadership and c-suite.

The right candidate will start a brand new function within the Product Team, responsible for analysing raw data  (Captify ingests over 35bn+ monthly search events from 2.3bn devices, collected from over 6m websites), investigating how our customers use our products and running R&D initiatives for new products. You will be tasked with uncovering complex nonlinear relationships within our data, crafting these findings into actionable insights and informing strategic business decisions. 

Reporting to the VP of Product, you will be joining a fast paced and growing product team with five PMs and one designer each working in small cross-functional pods with developers who focus on a particular product. You have an exceptionally curious mind, superior attention to detail, deep technical skills and a gift for storytelling.


What you’ll be doing:

  • Starting from scratch, defining your data wrangling, analysis and visualization stack. (The tooling of our ML engineers with be available as a starting point)   
  • Combining raw data on S3 with SQL based operational and performance data  
  • Assessing the relative value of our data assets and helping to define data acquisition strategy
  • Using techniques from statistics and machine learning to create models and predict the impact of changes within our systems 
  • Analyse interactions of our clients in our SaaS software to help inform the strategy and vision of the product team
  • Present key insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Devise key metrics of system heath and monitoring



What you need to be successful:

  • You have experience in a commercial data science or product analytics role
  • Significant experience with statistical analysis in Python or R 
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Perl, Ruby, Python, PHP etc)
  • Experience with SQL
  • Familiarity with spark / analysis of big data 
  • Familiarity with a range of machine learning and data modelling techniques
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and intrigued by unsolved puzzles
  • Expert storyteller and able to easily communicate with both engineers and executives   
  • Interest in advertising, technology and business
