OVERVIEW

We are looking for an Engineering Manager, Data Infrastructure to lead our Data Infrastructure Team. The role will lead the charge on our transformation to a data mesh architecture. Captify ingests billions of search events every month, and the data infrastructure team allows our product and analytics teams to create value fast through centralised tooling, code patterns and company-wide coaching of best practice. This is an opportunity to innovate and develop a platform stack which enables the amazing work that our product teams do building out our ML, data and application products.

Working closely with our architect and TPM team, the successful candidate will be comfortable collaborating with the other platform teams to design the most effective systems, not afraid to take risks and to push the boundaries, and able to lead both their team as well as indirectly across the organisation.

Captify’s world-class engineers, semantic specialists and product teams are building the future of Search and as part of our Engineering Team you will play a key part in developing our offering.

We work in small cross-functional teams of developers who focus on a particular product area and we encourage people to rotate across teams. Our product teams are underpinned and enabled by our platform teams with Data Infrastructure key amongst these.

ABOUT YOU

You will be a dedicated and passionate technical manager who can lead disparate teams across multiple locations. You will bring a thorough understanding of current best practice in Data Engineering, Data Architecture, and running an infrastructure platform as an internal product. We’d love it if you’ve gained this understanding in the advertising technology ecosystem.

You will have the experience to manage, develop and grow engineers and team leads.

You will be service focussed, and understand how the technical strategy of your team supports the company’s product strategy. Your planning will be biased towards rapid feedback cycles, safe to fail experiments and team autonomy.

REQUIREMENTS:

What you need to be successful:

• Have experience of scaling a data infrastructure platform
• Have experience of building and leading a distributed team
• Be passionate about internal quality, good code and effective technical practice
• Have knowledge of our tech stack: Scala, Spark, Kafka, Kubernetes, Databricks and AWS services
